On July 16th I traveled to the desert location of Spirit Ridge Resort near Osoyoos, BC. During the drive to the wedding of Noha and Joshua, I passed through several thunderstorms but arrived to steamy sunshine on the rooftop of the lodge for the ceremony. With a stunning view of Osoyoos Lake as a backdrop, Noha and Josh publicly committed their lives to each other surrounded by family and friends. The bridesmaids in elegant cream dresses each came down the aisle with a matching parasol. Little did we realize that those parasols would come in handy. Just as we were about to finish up with a special sand ceremony, huge drops of rain began to fall on the uncovered deck as another thunderstorm rolled in . Noha suggested that I skip to the end so we wrapped it up with the final declaration while the guests clapped and whistled and then quickly dashed for cover. Noha’s family is Egyptian and following the ceremony her father informed me with a big smile that in Egyptian culture the sudden showers symbolize wealth and blessing for the newlyweds. So may it be for you, Noha and Josh. Congratulations!
